The 20-year-old received criticism for an apparent greediness after he rejected an offer on a new contract at Anfield, which according to the BBC was worth £100,000 a week.
The England international revealed that he sees his future somewhere he can win trophies, rather than where there was the most to gain financially, hence the reason he has decided to delay talks until the end of the season. But, Barrett revealed that his manager believes that if he wants to win silverware, then he is in the best place to do so already.
Rodgers: “If his ambition is trophies, that’s perfectly aligned with what we want. This is Liverpool. It’s an honour for him to be here.” — Tony Barrett (@TonyBarretTimes) April 2, 2015
Rodgers reminded the player that the Merseyside club are one of the biggest in the world and have been crucial to his development.
Rodgers: “Liverpool is one of the superpowers of world football. If it doesn’t want to sell it won’t sell.”
