The 20-year-old, also reported to be a transfer target for big names such as Chelsea, Manchester United and Manchester City, is considering his future at Anfield after rejecting a big-money contract offer from the Reds in recent times.

It may be that Liverpool will now look to cash in on Sterling if he does not commit his future to the club, but the youngster has been advised to strongly consider staying with the Merseyside giants for longer instead of moving on so early in his career.

It is not clear who spoke to the player, but sources say he was told to approach advice from his agent with caution, as he may not have his best interests at heart, thinking about his own profit over Sterling’s career.
