Arsenal table official BID for Spain international, waiting for Real Madrid reaction

Arsenal have made an offer for Juventus star Fernando Llorente, reports the Metro.

The 30-year-old has seen Paulo Dybala and Mario Mandzukic arrive in Turin this summer, and could well be on the way out of the club as a result. As such the gunners have made an offer for the player, but he is waiting to see if Real Madrid make a move according to the Metro.

The Spain international scored a paltry seven goals in 31 Serie A appearances last season, but there is a lot more to his game than just hitting the back of the net. The former Athletic Bilbao man is able to hold the ball up and bring others in to play in a similar manner to current Arsenal forward Olivier Giroud.

As such, he could be the perfect player to rotate with the France international throughout the coming campaign. The North Londoners will likely need a player to do this if they are going to challenge Chelsea for the Premier League title. They have already signed Petr Cech to sort out the fact they let in more goals than Jose Mourinho’s side last time round, and now need to solve the problem of scoring less than the Stamford Bridge outfit.

However, a better option for Arsene Wenger may be Bernabeu ace Karim Benzema, if he is available. The 63-year-old is ready to break his transfer record for the 27-year-old, who netted 22 times in 47 games last season [AS]. With a proven record at the La Liga giants, the former Lyon man could be an inspirational signing in the same manner as Alexis Sanchez was last summer if he arrives at the Emirates Stadium.
