White Hart Lane side set to offload Argentine.

Tottenham attacker Erik Lamela is set to complete a move to Ligue 1 side Marseille according to CalcioMercato.

The 23-year-old forward joined Tottenham in a club record £30m deal two years ago and has steadfastly failed to come close to justifying the fee paid to AS Roma, the South American netting just two goals in 38 Premier League fixtures.

White Hart Lane boss Mauricio Pochettino has offloaded a number of under-performing players this summer and it’s not clear as to whether a move to Marseille would be a permanent of temporary one.

Juventus had been interested in signing Lamela but it appears the Spurs man is now set to move to the Stade Velodrome where he will look to re-ignite a career that has stagnated in North London.

Erik Lamela will hope to replicate the immediate success his former team-mate Roberto Soldado has attained, the Spanish international had struggled to adapt to life in the Premier League but has scored in each of his first two appearances for La Liga side Villarreal.
