Emirates Stadium side on ‘alert’ as long-term target looks set for possible exit.

Arsenal could finally land the prolific forward they desperately need with the Metro claiming that PSG are ready to consider the possibility of selling Edinson Cavani in January.

The 28-year-old has been primarily used by Parc des Princes boss Laurent Blanc as a wide-attacking option, so as to accommodate Swede Zlatan Ibrahimovic, and is a player who is clearly better suited for a central striking role.

Nonetheless Cavani bagged 56 goals in his first two season in the French capital, helping PSG to back-to-back Ligue 1 titles, and scored twice in their recent away win at AS Monaco.

Arsene Wenger’s Arsenal side have scored just three times in four Premier League fixtures this season, and two of those came via own goals, and neither Olivier Giroud nor Theo Walcott could ever be considered as prolific.

Cavani scored 104 goals in three seasons at Napoli prior his big-money move to PSG.
