Italian giants hope to secure Man United & Arsenal strike target with £16m contract offer

Juventus are reportedly ready to offer Edinson Cavani a three-year contract worth £16m to beat Manchester United and Arsenal to the signature of the Paris Saint-Germain striker.

Italian publication Tuttosport, via talkSPORT, claim that the Uruguayan is expected to leave PSG in the summer after becoming frustrated at having to play second fiddle to Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Cavani has often had to play out wide to accommodate Ibrahimovic up front, but has still managed 75 goals in 138 appearances since joining the Ligue 1 champions from Napoli in 2013.

According to talkSPORT, Manchester United and Arsenal are both big admirers of the 29-year-old and will move for him at the end of the season, if PSG give any indication that he could be available.

But Tuttosport understands that Juventus are willing to make Cavani one of their top earners on £85,000 per week, with performance-related bonuses taking his annual salary past the £5m mark.

Those figures are unlikely to intimidate either United or Arsenal, so Cavani’s next destination could depend on whether he fancies a return to Serie A, or sampling the wonders of the Premier League.
