Barcelona linked with hijacking €36m Roma move with 11th hour interest

Barcelona are reportedly keen on Bordeaux ace Malcom which in turn has potentially disrupted the Brazilian’s proposed €36m move to Roma.

The 21-year-old enjoyed an impressive campaign with the French outfit last season, scoring 12 goals and providing eight assists in 38 appearances in all competitions.

In turn, it was seemingly enough to earn the interest of Roma, but as reported by Sky Sport Italy journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, a proposed €36m move to the Italian capital has now been placed under real doubt as Barcelona have entered the race to sign Malcom.

That has reportedly stopped Bordeaux from giving the Brazilian ace permission to travel to Italy, and so it now remains to be seen if Roma can push forward with the deal or if Barca swoop and leave the Serie A giants bitterly frustrated over missing out on their target.

As seen in the tweet below from Sky Sports, Barcelona have also been linked with a swoop for Chelsea’s Willian, but after a reported third bid was rejected for the 29-year-old, it would appear as though the Catalan giants have perhaps switched their attention to Malcom instead.

Given he’s eight years younger and will potentially cost around €20m less based on the figures provided above, it seems like sensible business from the reigning La Liga champions.

While that will be no consolation to Roma if they miss out on signing Malcom, it remains to be seen if they can still wrap up a deal or not, with Barcelona now looking to put a real spanner in the works for their plans to bolster their attacking options.
