Former Newcastle striker Dwight Gayle has recently been released by Stoke City and he is now closing in on a move to the League One club Derby County as per reports.
Gayle has scored 26 goals in the Premier League over the years and he could prove to be a useful acquisition for Derby County. They need to add more attacking depth and quality to their side and the experienced striker could make a big difference.
The 34-year-old needs to play regularly at this stage of his career and he is likely to get the opportunity at the League One club. Newcastle decided to let him leave the club on a free transfer in 2022.
Gayle has been a proven performer in the top flight over the years and he is certainly good enough to hit the ground running in League One and transform Derby County in the attack.
The former Newcastle player is capable of playing anywhere across the front three and his versatility will be an added bonus for the Rams.
