Arsenal and Chelsea learn asking price of striker both are looking to sign

Premier League rivals Arsenal and Chelsea are both eyeing a summer move for RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko.

With 11 goals this season, the 20-year-old has maintained his impressive goal-scoring form from his time in Austria.

Both the London clubs are in desperate need of a striker as they both lack goals upfront.

Chelsea have the options of Nicolas Jackson and Christopher Nkunku upfront while the Gunners have Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah. Either those players have lacked goals or faced fitness issues this season.

Nevertheless, Sesko is a target for Chelsea and Arsenal, who will both probably be looking to add a striker during the summer transfer window.

Arsenal and Chelsea are targeting the same strikers

Other strikers anticipated to leave this summer are Napoli striker Victor Osimhen and Brentford hitman Ivan Toney, who will likely fetch hefty prices.

GiveMeSport claims that if a £43 million bid were to come in, Leipzig would not be able to block interested parties since that would be the amount of his buyout clause.

Arsenal and Chelsea both want Sesko

Sesko has been compared to Manchester City striker Erling Haaland. However, those parallels are unavoidable in certain ways.

Both players, 6-foot-4 forwards, began their professional careers with the Austrian team Salzburg. Sesko joined Leipzig, Salzburg’s sister club, last summer, while Haaland went to Borussia Dortmund in 2020 before joining Manchester City the previous year.

Arsenal would have edge over Chelsea

Signing Sesko for £43 million is something that both clubs would be happily willing to do. Compared to other expensive targets, Sesko would be a bargain.

The Gunners will be able to offer him the attraction of European football next season which might work in their favour.
