West Ham United are keen on signing the Corinthians attacker Wesley Gassova.
According to a report from Globo Esporte, the Hammers have emerged as the main interest party in signing the 19-year-old striker and they have submitted an offer of around €18 million. However, Corinthians are unwilling to accept the offer and they are holding out for a fee of around €25 million for the highly-rated striker.
It is no secret that the Hammers will need to improve their attacking options at the end of the season and the Brazilian could prove to be a quality long-term acquisition. He has the attributes to develop into a top-class player with the right guidance.
A move to the Premier League will be an exciting opportunity for him and West Ham United could provide him with the platform to showcase qualities at a high level. Regular football in the Premier League would accelerate his development and help him fulfil his tremendous potential.
The Hammers certainly have the financial resources to pay €25 million for the talented young striker and it remains to be seen whether they are ready to loosen their purse strings.
Wesley Gassova would be a future prospect
West Ham will be hoping to compete in Europe regularly and they need better players. They will have to plug the gaps in their squad during the summer transfer window and signing a quality young striker should be one of their top priorities.
Michail Antonio is well past his peak and Danny Ings has had his fair share of injury problems. Wesley could prove to be a quality long-term acquisition. He might not be ready to lead the line for West Ham yet, but he has the potential to establish himself as an important player for the London club in the coming seasons.
Meanwhile, clubs like Brighton and Crystal Palace have enquired about the player as well and it remains to be seen where he ends up.
