Liverpool have spent big this summer, signing nine players with several costing over £20 million. Based on his performances in Liverpool’s first two games of the season, spending that on Lovren looks like a bit of a mistake.

He has been at fault for at least two of the goals Liverpool have conceded and continues to look nervy in his new surroundings. He may grow into his role at Anfield but he may also struggle to justify his transfer fee.
