Police called on Belgium international star after hotel guests thought he was a terrorist

Belgian international midfielder Radja Nainggolan had quite a fright this week when guests at a hotel in the lowland country called police on him after mistaking him for a terrorist, according to La Derniere Heure.

The 27-year-old was set to take part in his country’s friendly meeting with Spain this week, only to see it be called off over security fears in the wake of the recent terror attacks in Paris.

Once the game was called off, he made his way back to his home city of Antwerp, but guests at the Radisson hotel were so shocked at the sight of him that they rang the police after mistaking him for a terrorist.

However, the police quickly realised the error and posed for a photo with the player, who took it all in good spirits.

“Apparently, I have a scary look,” he said.

“Fortunately the police recognized me immediately.”
