Chelsea transfer news: 22-year-old ready for another crack at Premier League despite poor record, deal imminent

Chelsea striker Patrick Bamford will soon get another chance to impress in the Premier League as he is poised to join Burnley on loan.

Bamford made 13 top-flight appearances last term – six for Crystal Palace, seven for Norwich City – and failed to hit the net once.

However, the 22-year-old, who has yet to play for Chelsea’s first team in any competition, was prolific in the Championship during the 2014-15 campaign, scoring 17 league goals for Middlesbrough.

Burnley boss Sean Dyche told his club’s official website on Saturday evening that a deal to sign Bamford was imminent.

He said: “Patrick is close. It’s just a few i’s getting dotted and t’s getting crossed.

“There are a number of other things closer too, but we still have to get them over the line, so well wait and see.”

Since joining Chelsea from Nottingham Forest in 2012, Bamford has been loaned out to five different clubs – Milton Keynes Dons, Derby County, Boro, Palace and Norwich.

He has not even made the Chelsea bench so far this season, missing out on four matchday squads.

Chelsea’s last game was against Burnley, with the Clarets losing 3-0 courtesy of goals from Eden Hazard, Willian and Victor Moses.
