Tottenham’s star man limps off injured, huge blow for Spurs in bittersweet night

Tottenham’s astonishing 3-1 victory over Real Madrid was marred by an injury to a key player in the first half.

Toby Alderweireld had to exit the historic night at Wembley on the 24th minute with the Belgian star clutching his hamstring before being replaced by Moussa Sissoko.

It could be a huge loss for Spurs with a must-win North London derby against rivals Arsenal just 17 days away. The Belgian defender has been crucial for Tottenham this season with many rating him as one of the best defenders in the Premier League.

It was of-course still an amazing night for Tottenham fans after a disappointing weekend in which Spurs dropped points in a 1-0 loss to Man United.

A Dele Alli brace ensured a 3-1 victory for the North London boys as Tottenham stunned the Champions League holder’s Real Madrid at Wembley.

Tottenham now sit on top of Group H and have officially sealed their place in the last 16 of the Champions League with two group games left to spare.

Many were skeptical of Tottenham’s chances in Europe this year after being placed in what was deemed a group of death alongside Real and Borussia Dortmund. However, any doubters have surely been silenced following tonight’s performance with Spurs still unbeaten in Europe this season.
