Manchester United a step closer to £62.6million transfer as club close in on replacement

Manchester United look to have been handed a major transfer boost in pursuit of Inter Milan defender Milan Skriniar.

The 23-year-old has shone in Serie A and attracted plenty of links with the Red Devils of late, with the club undeniably in need of strengthening at the back sooner rather than later.

Skriniar seems an ideal option for United, and the latest from Tuttomercatoweb is that the Italian giants could be prepared to let him go to make room for the signing of Atletico Madrid defender Diego Godin.

The Daily Express add that the Slovakia international is also wanted by Paris Saint-Germain and could cost around £63million.

While one or two obstacles clearly still lie ahead for United, the Godin news looks encouraging for them, while £63m also shouldn’t be too much for them to pay for a quality central defender.

Skriniar looks an obvious upgrade on players like Chris Smalling and Phil Jones, and could be important to help United tighten up defensively in the second half of this season.
