34-year-old is ‘high up’ on Liverpool’s summer transfer list as Klopp gets to work on potential targets

The 2022/23 season has been a disappointment for Liverpool Football Club when you consider how they’ve fared under Jurgen Klopp previously.

No silverware and potentially out of next season’s Champions League unless those teams above them drop points and the Reds continue their great current form, it’s clear that recruitment for next season has to be spot on.

Much of Klopp’s starting XI tends to pick itself, though the club are light in certain areas in terms of providing suitable competition.

Perhaps it’s with that in mind that the club are looking at a 34-year-old custodian to keep Alisson Becker on his toes.

The Brazilian is a certain starter for Liverpool when fit, though he has been shown to be error-prone at times.

According to Bild, Ron-Robert Zieler, the current No.1 at Hannover 96 and who was signed by Jorg Schmadtke, is ‘high up’ on Liverpool’s list.

Schmadtke could be on the way to Anfield to work with Klopp as an ‘external consultant on transfer issues’ and it’s possible that he’ll aim to bring the keeper with him.

With only one year left on his current contract, it makes sense for Hannover to look at their options for Zieler.

A move to the Premier League in the autumn of his career may also suit the custodian too.
