Transfer news: Mount Man United latest, Fresneda Arsenal boost, Liverpool medical today & more

Manchester City

Ilkay Gundogan’s agent Ilhan has responded to rumours of a new Man City deal being agreed: “Nothing has been agreed with City or any other club. The recent reports are NOT true. Ilkay is only focused on the final.”

Manchester United

There is still no official bid from Manchester United for Mason Mount. Chelsea don’t want to negotiate, as they have made it clear they want £80m or nothing – that’s their position. Man Utd want to pay a lot less than this, and so there is a big gap. Let’s see if things change as Mount is keen on the move, but at the moment Chelsea’s stance is a big issue.

PSG

Manuel Ugarte has been in Paris for his medical with PSG. The Ligue 1 giants will pay €60m to Sporting Lisbon for the Uruguayan midfielder, while Chelsea left the race 12 hours ago.

Marco Asensio has also been finalising his move to PSG, and it can be considered a done deal. He joins on a free transfer from Real Madrid. Aston Villa were also interested and made an offer to Asensio, but he has chosen PSG.

Rangers

Goalkeeper Jack Butland has completed his medical as a new Rangers player today — done deal, contract agreed. Butland joins as free agent from Crystal Palace after his loan at Manchester United came to an end.

RB Leipzig

Lois Openda has agreed personal terms with RB Leipzig on a contract that would be valid until 2028. Discussions are still ongoing between the two clubs to get the deal done. Leipzig want to be fast on this deal in anticipation of Italian clubs also being interested in the Lens striker.

Real Madrid

Karim Benzema has signed the main section of documents to sign for Saudi Pro League side Al Ittihad. The Frenchman’s contract will be valid until 2025 but will also include the option for a further season. Benzema will say goodbye to Madrid fans and then travel to Saudi for this new chapter.

Real Madrid have advanced in talks with Borussia Dortmund over Jude Bellingham on Monday. New positive negotiations took place and the agreement is finally closer. The expectation is that it could be done this week.

Real Madrid will push for the signing of Kai Havertz in the coming days, they are very interested. There shouldn’t be any issues regarding personal terms as the player would be keen on the move. Chelsea are open to selling Havertz, but are waiting also for more clubs to join the race. The player’s priority, however, would be to go to Real Madrid.

Roma

AS Roma are happy with Diego Llorente but they consider the €18m buy clause from Leeds as too expensive. Roma have also triggered the option to extend Andrea Belotti’s contract, which had been due to expire at the end of the month — it will now be valid until June 2025.

Tottenham

Ange Postecoglou has been officially announced as the new Tottenham manager today, joining on a four-year deal after leaving Celtic.

Wolves

Ruben Neves is waiting and will continue to wait for Barcelona. Personal terms have been agreed since the end of April with his agent Jorge Mendes. Barca can’t proceed now due to Financial Fair Play, while the player is also not considered a priority for Xavi. It’s not guaranteed at all that Ansu Fati would join Wolves as part of the deal.
