Player opens up about the ‘impulsive’ nature of West Ham attacker

West Ham United winger Said Benrahma is currently on loan at French club Lyon.

The 28-year-old has not been able to hold down a regular starting spot at West Ham under David Moyes and he needed to leave the club in January so that he can get back to his best with regular first-team action.

It will be interesting to see if the Hammers decide to bring him back to the club next season or sell him permanently.

There is no doubt that Benrahma can be a quality player on his day and he could be very useful for the Hammers if he can get over his impulsive nature.

French footballer Paulin Puel has now revealed that the Algerian winger can be quite impulsive and he can react inappropriately if the situation is going against him. However, he added that Benrahma is not unmanageable, and he tends to come back to his senses soon.

“Saïd is impatient: he quickly wants to look elsewhere if he isn’t playing and shows that he’s frustrated. Careful, he’s not at all unmanageable, but he’s impulsive and can react inappropriately, before quickly coming to his senses.”

Clearly, Benrahma needs to control his reactions better if he wants to succeed at the highest level. He might not be a regular starter for every club, but he could still be a very valuable asset if he manages to be patient and works hard.
