Celtic are on the lookout for a new goalkeeper.

Joe Hart’s recent retirement announcement has left Brendan Rodgers in need of a new shot-stopper in the summer, and according to recent reports, the Hoops’ boss has identified Liverpool’s Caoimhin Kelleher, 25, as a top target.

Signing the 25-year-old Irishman will be far from straightforward though. Kelleher’s recent form while standing in for the injured Alisson, including a match-winning Carabao Cup performance against Chelsea, has seen his stock rise.

And with two-and-a-half years left on his contract, Liverpool are in no immediate danger of losing their academy graduate.

However, with Alisson set to reclaim the number one jersey as soon as he has recovered from injury, Celtic’s biggest hope of landing Kelleher will be if the player feels he is ready to take on a regular starting role with a new club.

Nevertheless, with the shot-stopper becoming a cult hero at Anfield, fans will not want to see him depart.

Since being promoted to the Reds’ first team in 2019, Kelleher, who has represented Ireland on 10 occasions, has kept 13 clean sheets in 37 games in all competitions.

  1. Kelleher has proven to be a great player with lots still to offer. He needs more game time to max out his confidence , especially when playing out from defense. I like his ability and passion for the sport, he deserves to be no 1. I will miss him but would like to witness his true potential!
