Arsenal and Manchester City are keen on signing the Bayern Munich midfielder Joshua Kimmich at the end of the season.

The midfielder is yet to enter into contract talks with the German club and he will look to move on at the end of the season. A report from Daily Express claims that Kimmich is keen on a major transfer at this stage of his career and the 29-year-old is a target for the two Premier League clubs.

Manchester City need to add more depth in the middle of the park and they need to bring in a reliable alternative to Spanish international midfielder Rodri. Kimmich has proven himself in the Bundesliga over the years and he could prove to be a quality addition.

He has played under Pep Guardiola in the past, and the opportunity to reunite with his former manager could be an attractive option. The German international is versatile enough to operate as a defensive midfielder as well as a full-back. He is at the peak of his powers and he will look to make an immediate impact in the Premier League.

Kimmich to replace Thomas Partey?

Meanwhile, Arsenal need to bring in more depth in the middle of the park as well. Thomas Partey has had his fair share of injury problems and the Ghana international has been linked with a move away from Arsenal.

Kimmich could be the ideal alternative and he could even prove to be an upgrade.

The German international could form a quality partnership with Declan Rice at the heart of Arsenal’s midfield. It will be interesting to see which of the two clubs manage to sign the player in the end.
