Sportswear giants Adidas may have kicked off their partnership with Manchester United with a rather bland looking kit, but next year they have something truly interesting up their sleeve.

Football shirt insiders Footy Headlines have dropped a juicy piece of info regarding United’s next kit by claiming that the club’s redesign next season will be inspired by the first Newton Heath kit.

The Red Devils were originally founded as Newton Heath LYR Football Club in 1878, the club changed its name to Manchester United in 1902 and moved to Old Trafford in 1910.

But rather than changing the home colours back to green and gold, Adidas will instead combine two shades of red in a half-and-half design.
