Jordan Ayew tipped for Tottenham Hotspur transfer; Ghana striker linked to Aston Villa exit

Tottenham Hotspur are the latest club linked with a move for Aston Villa striker Jordan Ayew, who’s been tipped for the exit door during the January transfer window.

The Villains currently find themselves rock bottom of the Premier League, having only got eight points from their opening 20 matches. The Birmingham side appear destined for the Championship, having not won since the opening day of the season.

French coach Remi Garde replaced Tim Sherwood earlier in the year, but has failed to prompt any kind of revival among the struggling Midlanders and is understood to be planning for life in the second tier.

We reported earlier this week that the club were plotting to offload certain talents deemed unsuitable for life in the Championship, with the Mirror suggesting that Frenchman Charles N’Zogbia was on the brink of being cut loose.

Jordan Ayew is another who is being tipped for the Aston Villa exit door, with Premier League trio Southampton, Everton and Watford all understood to be keen on his signature, and Ligue 1 side LOSC Lille eyeing a potential move to take the attacker back to French football.

However, football writer Ed Dove has tipped Tottenham to be the latest club eyeing a January move for the Ghana frontman.’

“Jordan Ayew could be a top signing for Spurs,” Dove began, writing on his @EddyDove handle. “I’ve crticised him before, but Villa reportedly looking to cash in.

“Tottenham Hotspur need offensive cover (and) if (Mauricio) Pochettino could unlock that talent, and if Jordan could find consistency, could be ideal fit. He’d be eaten alive in (the) Championship!”
