Exclusive: Title-winning manager waiting for right offer amid Chelsea & Juventus links, says expert

Former Inter Milan and Tottenham manager Antonio Conte still doesn’t have a new club despite leaving Spurs almost a year ago, so what could be next for the Italian tactician?

There has inevitably been some speculation about Conte’s next club, with Fabrizio Romano speaking exclusively to CaughtOffside for his Daily Briefing column to respond to the stories about Conte possibly being eyed up by two of his former clubs – Chelsea and Juventus.

It’s fair to say that Mauricio Pochettino probably isn’t the most secure manager right now after a difficult season at Chelsea, with the Blues still languishing in mid-table and recently losing the Carabao Cup final.

Conte won the Premier League title during his time in charge at Stamford Bridge, so one imagines he could be seen as a tempting option for the west London giants, even if his time at Tottenham wasn’t the most successful.

Antonio Conte has been linked with Chelsea and Juventus

Having also won Serie A with both Inter and Juve, Conte is clearly someone who knows how to deliver silverware, so it might be that he’d be an upgrade on Pochettino.

Still, Romano has played down the links for the time being, as Conte is still waiting for the right offer before returning to football.

Conte to Chelsea or Juventus links played down

“There’s also been a story about the possibility of Antonio Conte returning to Chelsea as manager, while he’s also been linked as a candidate for another of his former clubs Juventus,” Romano said.

“As things stand, I’m not aware of any concrete contact, Conte is waiting for the right proposal but there is zero to report with these two clubs right now.”

Chelsea fans will no doubt be keeping an eye on this, however, as it could surely be worth considering Conte for a second spell in charge if things don’t work out with Pochettino.
