In-form Manchester United star mysteriously absent from squad for Huddersfield game

Manchester United forward Anthony Martial was reportedly not seen with the first-team squad ahead of today’s Boxing Day clash with Huddersfield Town.

New interim Red Devils boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is set to take charge of his first home game with the club later today, but may be without a big name in Martial, according to the Metro.

This would be a big blow for United, who could do with the pace and goal threat of Martial in their attack, especially with Romelu Lukaku also set to be out as he is away on compassionate leave, according to the Metro.

Martial shone in Solskjaer’s first game in charge of MUFC, scoring a delightful third goal in a hugely impressive 5-1 win away to Cardiff City.

It remains to be seen how United could line up without the 23-year-old, though fellow attackers Marcus Rashford and Jesse Lingard also both impressed a great deal in the thrashing of Cardiff.

It is not clear why Martial may not be involved, though the Metro do stress that it could be that he went to the Lowry Hotel before the rest of the squad due to living nearby in the city centre of Manchester.
