Christian Pulisic has opened up on his summer transfer to Chelsea from Borussia Dortmund, having also been linked with Liverpool in the past.

According to ESPN, the USA international had also been a target for the Reds in the past before eventually agreeing on a £57million transfer to Stamford Bridge to go through next season.

Pulisic has shone in his time in the Bundesliga, and looks ideal for the style of football played by both Chelsea and Liverpool under their current managers Maurizio Sarri and Jurgen Klopp.

However, speaking about why he chose Chelsea, the 20-year-old suggested Sarri’s tactics and philosophy were a big factor in his decision.

“I’ve seen their style of play,” Pulisic is quoted by ESPN.

“I’ve always appreciated how they’ve played football, and it’s really nice how they play now, with their new coach. It fits me very well.”

This is quite a compliment to the Italian tactician, who won plenty of admirers at his previous club Napoli as well.

Results at Chelsea have been a little mixed in Sarri’s first season in charge, but it’s clear the 59-year-old seems to be at the start of an exciting project with the west London giants.

A young talent like Pulisic should only boost his side’s chances next season, so fans will be thrilled he has helped them attract such a big name.
