Juan Mata – MISS
This is perhaps a bit harsh, but Juan Mata has been way too inconsistent in his time at MUFC, looking overpriced at £37.1m, which was a lot of money back in 2014.
John Stones – MISS
Again a little harsh perhaps, but John Stones hasn’t been the regular in Guardiola’s side that many will have expected, starting just 18 league games this season and keeping veteran Vincent Kompany in the mix. Not really what you’d expect for £47.5m.
Anthony Martial – HIT (only just)
Another close call, but we feel there’s reasonable explanation for Anthony Martial’s United struggles, and enough so far to suggest he can continue to improve and become a world class player.
Raheem Sterling – HIT
No question-marks over this one, with Raheem Sterling coming on leaps and bounds in the last two seasons in particular, scoring 46 goals since the start of 2017/18 to play a key role in City’s various trophy victories. Signed from Liverpool for £44m, he’d be worth close to triple that now.
Victor Lindelof – HIT (only just)
After a slow start, Victor Lindelof has become a hugely important member of this United team this season, and looks like a player who can go on to be a real leader for them for years to come.
Bernardo Silva – HIT
How did City get Bernardo Silva for just £43m? The former Monaco attacking midfielder has been consistently superb since he joined and it’s frankly mind-boggling to think of the money United have splashed out on more expensive and worse players like Pogba and Di Maria.
Dimitar Berbatov – HIT
This one’s from so long ago it feels a little silly mentioning it, but Dimitar Berbatov is still among United’s most expensive signings ever. You may remember he was very good.
Sergio Aguero – HIT
£38m was a lot of money back in 2011, and Sergio Aguero has been worth every penny for City, becoming their all-time leading scorer with 229 goals and counting, contributing to three title victories and counting.
Eric Bailly – MISS
After some initial promise, Eric Bailly’s United career has gone quickly downhill, with the Ivorian one of few players not to feel the benefit of the Solskjaer bump this season. Surely gone in the summer.
Leroy Sane – HIT
A bargain at £37m, Leroy Sane has been a joy to watch for City, and could be decisive in this week’s Manchester Derby.
So in total that’s…
