Opinion: 5 alternative striker targets after Erling Haaland’s brutal Chelsea transfer snub, including clinical PL duo

Lautaro Martinez

Lukaku’s Inter team-mate, Lautaro Martinez is another fine forward who is surely destined for a big move before too long.

The exciting young Argentina international could be another player who’d be a better option than the likes of Werner, Abraham and Giroud, so it will be interesting to see if Chelsea and others come in for him in the near future.

Lukaku is perhaps the more proven option, but if Chelsea cannot land Haaland or Lukaku, Martinez is definitely worth considering.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin

Another fine young striker enjoying his football at the moment is Everton front-man Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin could shine at a bigger club like Chelsea

The 23-year-old has been on fire in the Premier League this season and if he carries on playing like this it’s surely going to be hard for the Toffees to keep hold of him.

Chelsea might have some slightly more glamorous names in mind to strengthen up front, but they could do a lot worse than bringing in Calvert-Lewin for that role after the superb accuracy he’s shown in front of goal in recent times.

Andre Silva

A player who endured a difficult few years after first breaking onto the scene, Andre Silva now looks back to his best with Eintracht Frankfurt this season.

The Portugal international has 19 goals in 21 Bundesliga games and looks like he could do a job for a bigger club.

Silva has recently been linked with Manchester United by the Sun, but Chelsea could do well to join the running now that it seems Haaland won’t be an option.
