Exclusive: Tottenham have held talks over transfer that would cost €45m, player would love to join

Tottenham have held talks with intermediaries over the potential transfer of Sporting Lisbon right-back Pedro Porro, but they’ll have to pay his €45million release clause to get the deal done.

This is according to Fabrizio Romano in the latest edition of the Daily Briefing, his exclusive CaughtOffside column, with Spurs not currently facing competition from Chelsea for Porro.

Porro has impressed in his time at Sporting and it’s not too surprising to see plenty of interest in him, but it seems Romano is currently writing off the Chelsea links as speculation for the moment.

This could be some cause for optimism for Tottenham, but it remains to be seen if they will be prepared to bow to Sporting’s demands for Porro.

Pedro Porro is a transfer target for Tottenham

The 23-year-old looks an outstanding talent who could be well worth the investment, but it’s also a lot of money to pay for someone who isn’t guaranteed to make it in a more competitive league like the Premier League.

Discussing the latest on Porro, Romano said: “Tottenham are in contact with intermediaries for Pedro Porro, the player would love to join Spurs but Sporting keep asking €45m release clause.

“Despite links with Chelsea, I’m only aware of Tottenham negotiation at the moment, not of other clubs as of now.”
