Eddie Howe wasn’t comfortable with one Newcastle transfer decision in January

Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe was reportedly not comfortable with the club’s decision to let goalkeeper Karl Darlow leave in January.

The 32-year-old is currently on loan at Hull City after failing to establish himself as first choice at St James’ Park.

However, he would surely be in contention to start the Carabao Cup final against Manchester United this weekend had he still been at the club.

According to the Mail, Howe was unsure about letting Darlow leave in the first place, and it seems his worst fears have been confirmed as he’s now likely to have to start Loris Karius in place of the suspended Nick Pope.

This is a real worry for Newcastle as they prepare to take on Man Utd in what will be a huge game for Howe and his project with the Magpies.

Newcastle’s wealthy owners will surely be keen to see the team winning trophies soon, but United look the big favourites for this cup final as things stand.
