Liverpool, Newcastle keen on €18m-rated Dutchman this summer

Liverpool and Newcastle United are reportedly keen on the Dutch international defender Perr Schuurs.

The 23-year-old joined Torino at the start of the season and he has impressed with his performances for the Italian outfit.

A report from Calciomercato claims that Liverpool could look to bring him in as a partner for Virgil van Dijk and Newcastle are keeping tabs on the player as well.

Schuurs could be a quality long-term acquisition for the two Premier League clubs and he could form a quality partnership with the likes of Van Dijk or Sven Botman.

Newcastle have shown impressive defensive organisation this season, but they will need to improve further in the coming years. The Magpies are looking to put together a formidable squad capable of challenging for major trophies.

On the other hand, it has been a disappointing season for Liverpool and they will look to get back to challenging for the major trophies next year.

Bringing in a quality defender should be a top priority for them. Joe Gomez and Joel Matip have been quite underwhelming this season and Jurgen Klopp must look to bring in an improvement on the two players.

Schuurs could compete with Ibrahima Konate for the starting spot alongside Van Dijk, and he could then go on to replace his compatriot in the long run.

Perr Schuurs to Newcastle?

The opportunity to play for Newcastle and Liverpool will be an attractive option for the player.

The two clubs are currently pushing for Champions League qualification, and finishing in the top four could help them sign top-class talents like Schuurs.

The defender joined the Italian club for €9 million and the report claims that he is value has now doubled. €18 million would still be a reasonable price to pay for a player of his potential.
