Callum Wilson to have surgery, striker facing lengthy spell out

Newcastle United’s Callum Wilson is reportedly preparing to have surgery following a recent injury.

The former Bournemouth striker, last in action against Nottingham Forest, injured his pectoral muscle and is now set for a significant spell on the sidelines.

Not only will Wilson miss out on facing his old club on the weekend, but according to the Daily Mail’s Craig Hope, the 31-year-old will miss up to the next three months of action after needing surgery on his torn pectoral tendon.

Wilson’s latest setback will serve as a major blow to Eddie Howe, who is already struggling with several injuries, including one to striker Alexander Isak, and although there is hope the Swede can return soon, there are no guarantees he’ll be ready in time to play against Bournemouth on Saturday.

Should Wilson be out for the full three months, he would return for Newcastle’s final Premier League game of the season, which takes place at the Community Stadium, against Brentford on 19th May.
