Liverpool told how much they need to pay for 42-year-old managerial target

Liverpool have been linked with a move for the Bayer Leverkusen manager Xabi Alonso.

The 42-year-old is one of the options to replace Jurgen Klopp at the end of the season.

The Spanish manager has done an excellent job with the Bundesliga club so far and they are currently on top of the league table. They are expected to win the league title and Alonso’s achievements have attracted the attention of the top clubs.

A report from Sport1 via Fichajes claims that any club hoping to appoint him will have to pay a compensation fee of around €15-20 million.

It will be interesting to see if Liverpool are willing to shell out the reported amount in order to bring the Spaniard to Anfield next season.

There is no doubt that Alonso is a talented young manager with a bright future in the game and he could prove to be an exciting appointment for Liverpool. The Spaniard has played for the Premier League club in the past and he knows the club well. He shares a close bond with the Liverpool fans and therefore the appointment is likely to be met with warmth.

Liverpool have a talented squad at their disposal and bringing in a quality manager like Alonso will help them compete for major trophies in the coming season as well.

The Premier League side certainly have the financial resources to pay the compensation for the Spaniard and it remains to be seen how the situation develops. The 42-year-old manager is on the radar of other European clubs as well and Liverpool must look to make their move quickly in order to fend off the competition.
