Exclusive: Fabrizio Romano reveals Chelsea’s transfer priority for summer 2024

Posted by

Transfer news expert Fabrizio Romano has discussed Chelsea’s priority for the summer of 2024, with the Blues seemingly set to make a new striker their number one target.

Chelsea have been a little short of quality up front this season, with Christopher Nkunku missing a lot of the campaign due to injury, while youngster Nicolas Jackson hasn’t been entirely convincing so far.

A new striker makes sense for Chelsea, with Romano telling CaughtOffside, as part of his latest exclusive column for the Daily Briefing, that that’s probably where we can expect to see CFC focusing on once the summer comes around.

Romano has not mentioned specific names yet, but in response to some Chelsea transfer rumours involving interest in Leeds United winger Crysencio Summerville, Romano made it clear that he was not aware of anything concrete happening there for the moment, with a central striker the focus for the west London giants.

“Despite rumours, I’m not aware of any contacts or negotiations over Crysencio Summerville at Leeds. Chelsea’s priority for the summer remains a central striker, but let’s see who else they look at,” Romano said.

“There are really many clubs following and monitoring Crysencio in the Premier League and other leagues, so let’s see if Chelsea decide to join them, but I’m not aware of anything concrete on this at the moment.”

Chelsea need a striker, but which one is the ideal target?

Victor Osimhen and Ivan Toney could be ideal signings for Chelsea

Many Chelsea fans will have their own ideas about who would make the best signing up front for their side, but Victor Osimhen is sure to be the name that stands out.

The Nigeria international has been a world class performer for Napoli and has a bit of everything to his game that makes him look like a good fit for Mauricio Pochettino’s side.

Other names to watch will surely be the likes of Ivan Toney, Benjamin Sesko and Viktor Gyokeres.
