“He asked me about places to live” – Joao Felix has “convinced” Man City star to join Barcelona

Barcelona have been long-term admirers of Man City star Bernardo Silva and Joao Felix believes he has convinced his Portugal teammate to move to Spain this summer.

There has been a lot of uncertainty around the future of Silva in recent transfer windows and that looks set to continue ahead of the 2024/25 campaign.

Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain were interested in the Man City star last summer but the 29-year-old ended up signing a new one-year contract extension at the Etihad Stadium at the start of the current campaign, committing his future to the Manchester club until 2026.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the Portuguese star’s new deal includes a £50m release clause that can be activated from next summer, and interested clubs will look to take advantage of this.

Barcelona have major financial issues at present and are very unlikely to be able to pay the £50m for Silva, however, Joao Felix believes he has convinced the City player to make the move to La Liga at the end of the season.

Speaking about Silva to Catalunya Radio, Felix has stated that he believes he has convinced the 29-year-old to move to Barcelona as the midfielder has asked about everything regarding life in the Catalan city.

“I think I’ve convinced Bernardo Silva to join Barça, that’s all true! But it doesn’t depend on him right now,” the Barca star said via Fabrizio Romano.

“He asked me about places to live, places to eat, safety… everything!

“If he comes, Barça will be delighted with Bernardo.”

The signing of Silva would be an impressive one for Barcelona but as Felix says, ” it doesn’t depend on him right now” as the La Liga giants will need to get their financial issues in order.
