Tottenham linked with versatile attacker who has 15-G/A this season

Marcus Edwards has been linked with a move away from Sporting CP at the end of the season.

Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with the 25-year-old attacker by Record and it will be interesting to see if the North London club decide to make a move for him in the summer.

Edwards has been an important player for Sporting CP and he has six goals and nine assists in all competitions this season. He is versatile enough to operate on both flanks and he can slot in as the central attacking midfielder as well. Spurs will need more quality and depth in their attack and the 25-year-old could prove to be the ideal acquisition.

The former Tottenham Academy graduate knows the club well and he might be able to settle in quickly and make an immediate impact if he joins the club. Tottenham could certainly use a versatile attacker like him who can slot into multiple roles and chip in with goals and creativity. The attacker is at the peak of his career right now and Tottenham would do well to secure his signature.

Edwards is keen on a return to the Premier League and it will be interesting to see where he ends up. Tottenham will have to improve their squad if they wants to compete in the Champions league regularly and fight for trophies. Signing a dynamic attacker like Edwards and a reliable finisher should be there top priority heading into the summer transfer window.

Edwards will feel he has unfinished business at his boyhood club and the opportunity to return to Tottenham will be quite tempting for him. It remains to be seen whether the two clubs can work out a deal.

Tottenham included a sell-on percentage in his contract when they sold Edwards and therefore they should be able to sign him for a lesser fee compared to other clubs.
