Tottenham Hotspur manager Thomas Frank is reportedly keen on signing the Aston Villa midfielder Jacob Ramsey during the summer window.
According to former Tottenham goalkeeper Paul Robinson, the 24-year-old midfielder is certainly on the list of the Danish manager, and he could be available for a reasonable amount of money.
He is not a key player for Aston Villa, and Robinson believes that they would be willing to sanction his departure for a reasonable amount of money. Since he is an academy graduate, his departure would be recorded as pure profit for the West Midlands club.
Thomas Frank eyeing Ramsey move
“For Aston Villa, it would be pure profit because he’s an academy product,” he told Football Insider.
“I think the big thing with Jacob Ramsey is his contract.
“He’s got this season and next season left on his contract, so the fee would probably be appealing to Aston Villa, but it wouldn’t be as high as Tottenham are expecting.
“I think what could push the deal over the line is the profit it gives Aston Villa.
“Jacob Ramsey is certainly high on Thomas Frank’s list.
“He’s the type of player who would be a good addition to the starting XI and squad going forward.”
Can Tottenham sign Jacob Ramsey?
It will be interesting to see if Tottenham can get the deal done. They could use a versatile midfielder like him who is capable of slotting into multiple roles. He will help create opportunities for his teammates and technical ability to the side as well.
Tottenham needs more depth in the middle of the park. James Madison has been inconsistent at times, and more competition for places would be ideal. Ramsey could compete with him for the starting spot.
He is also capable of drifting into the wide areas, and he could be very useful during injuries and rotation. Joining a Champions League-level club would be ideal for the player as well. Regular football at Tottenham could bring out the best in him.
