Injury expert: Tottenham defender’s injury less serious than initially feared

Tottenham’s ongoing injury crisis continues as yet another player from Ange Postecoglou’s squad has suffered a setback.

With more than 20 Spurs players having experienced injuries at some point this season, the Lilywhites are struggling to overcome this recurring issue.

The latest is their experienced defender Ben Davies, who is expected to miss the remainder of the season due to a calf issue.

Ange Postecoglou confirmed the news regarding the Welsh international earlier this month during an interview posted on the club’s official X handle.

Dr Rajpal Brar suggests that Davies’ calf issue may require surgery, but as of now, it’s unlikely.

The 31-year-old’s most recent appearance for Spurs was in last month’s North London derby against Arsenal, where he played 88 minutes in the 2-3 defeat.

Dr Brar, an injury expert, provided an update on Davies’ injury in an interview with Tottenham News.

While acknowledging the seriousness of the injury, the doctor remains optimistic that with proper rehabilitation, Davies should regain fitness in time for the pre-season without the need for surgery.

However, he notes that a definitive assessment regarding the need for surgery may need to wait until early June.

As of now, surgery seems unlikely, but further evaluation will provide a clearer picture of Davies’ recovery path.

Dr. Brar said:

“Davies has picked up a calf injury and it does appear to be a serious one which has seen Ange ruling out of the remaining games.

“If he gets through rehab appropriately, he should be ready for pre-season and not need surgery.

“It may be too soon to assess and perhaps the first or second week of June will provide a clearer picture as to whether or not a procedure is needed but as of now, it’s unlikely.“

Davies hasn’t been a consistent presence on the field in the ongoing campaign, mainly serving as a squad player.

The left-back has only been in the starting lineup for 34% of the games, making 17 Premier League appearances with just 12 starts.
