There will be some who will mistakenly decide that Arsene Wenger’s constant moaning about the overly physical approach his side comes up against is somehow a relevant issue when it comes to the following video. Lee Bowyer, vile man that he is, decides that it’s only right and proper to stamp on a prone Bacary Sagna to make up for the fact that his Birmingham City side just couldn’t get the better of Arsenal. This is so clearly a deliberate stamp that even the FA with their myopic vision will surely punish the midfielder..surely?!

No one on Planet Earth likes Lee Bowyer. There are Amazonian tribes who have as yet not been in contact with the modern world, they live in huts and no little of electricity or indeed the magic of a nice sausage sandwich drenched in HP sauce, yet when scientists who discovered them a few months back they showed the natives a picture of Lee Bowyer and the resultant anger meant that the scientists have been turn to paste. This is the type of hatred the former Leeds, West Ham, Charlton midfielder engenders. Therefore it was no surprise when Kieron Dyer, who was surprisingly fit enough to be involved in this scuffle, decided to have a good old fashioned punch-up.

I’ve watched this a few times and I am convinced Lee Bowyer has deliberately kicked Luka Modric’s legs with real ferocity and had the Croat rolled around the turf for long enough maybe the referee would have given him a caution, which is the least he deserves. He not only wallops the Tottenham players leg he also continues to exert contact as the players fall to the floor, It looks like a pretty nasty challenge to me.
There are some tasty encounters here, not sure about the music, but hey ho! Enjoy!
There were some interesting refereeing decisions at Upton Park on Saturday, as West Ham and Birmingham drew 1-1. The jury was certainly out on whether there was sufficient contact by Lucas Neill on James McFadden to merit the visitors being awarded a penalty, while Lee Bowyer was dismissed at the end of the match for a rash challenge on Blues captain Damien Johnson. The Hammers don’t reckon it deserved a red card, with the BBC reporting that Alan Curbishley will be lodging an appeal.
Hammers boss Alan Curbishley said after the 1-1 draw: “We have asked the referee to look at it, and we think he will. Hopefully he will overturn it.”
Although Bowyer has had his fair share of bad challenges over the years, it looked like more of a clumsy tackle as the match was fizzling out to a 1-1 draw, rather than anything malicious. As Robbie Keane discovered a couple of months ago, the FA rarely overturn these decisions and it appears the Hammers will be short of central midfielders for the next few games.
The Times recently published “the Top 50 stats of 2007″ compiled by their resident statto brainbox Bill Edgar – and the number one footballing statistic was how similar Lee Bowyer and Scott Parker are. Edgar writes:
“Both are London-born midfield players who have gained only brief recognition by England; both began their careers at Charlton Athletic and later played for Newcastle United before joining West Ham. And both played keepy-uppy in McDonald’s as teenagers: Parker with a football in an advert and Bowyer with some chairs, for which he was fined £4,500.”
Scott Parker and Lee Bowyer, separated at birth?
