Brighton manager Roberto De Zerbi has been linked with a move to some of the biggest clubs in Europe.
Manchester United, Liverpool, Barcelona and Bayern Munich have all been paired with the Italian manager, who has become one of the best young managers in the world of football.
French journalist Julien Laurens has now shared an update on the future of the 44-year-old manager.
De Zerbi has impressed everyone by leading Brighton to a sixth-place finish in the Premier League last season, which confirmed their qualification to the Europa League this season.
De Zerbi may join Manchester United instead of Liverpool
When questioned about De Zerbi’s future yesterday, French journalist Julian Laurens stated that people at the Premier League club believed he would quit the team in the summer.
Laurens mentioned a number of teams that are looking for a new manager and De Zerbi could join them. However, he denied that the Italian would be heading to Anfield as Jurgen Klopp’s successor.
Laurens said on TNT Sports: “I think people at the club feel he is a little bit disgruntled and he might not be there next season. Yes, (he complained) on the ownership as well, which is really rare from him.
“Obviously, with all the top clubs in Europe looking for a manager in the summer, from Napoli to Bayern to Liverpool to Barcelona – not that he will go to Liverpool, I think, but maybe Manchester United, maybe Juve, maybe Milan, a lot of top, top clubs.
“If I was a Brighton fan, I would be a little bit worried.”
Manchester United have shown interest in De Zerbi
The Red Devils are reportedly keen to appoint the Brighton manager at Old Trafford after an underwhelming season by Erik ten Hag, as reported recently.
The pressure is increasing on ten Hag with every bad result and he could be shown the exit door by new co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe.
ten Hag himself has been linked with a move back to his former club Ajax, who are looking for a new manager.
Even after over two years in charge, Ten Hag’s brand of football is still unrecognisable to most fans. On the other hand, De Zerbi will almost certainly provide that, as he did at Brighton when he succeeded Graham Potter.
