Liverpool have things going for them on the pitch but it remains to be seen how it goes for them off the pitch with the future of key players up in the air.
The likes of Mohamed Salah, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil Van Dijk have entered the final year of their contract at the club and their future at Anfield remains uncertain.
Arne Slot has guided the Reds, with the help of the above mentioned players, to the top of the Premier League standings after winning 15 points from their first six matches of the season.
However, some of their players have been linked with a move away from the club and that must be bothering the Dutch manager.
Real Madrid’s interest in the services of Alexander-Arnold have been well documented but now Bayern Munich are keeping tabs on Liverpool’s Brazilian goalkeeper Alisson.
They reportedly want to replace Manuel Neuer with the Premier League star but Alisson has made it clear that he is 100% committed to the club with his latest comments.
In an interview with former goalkeeper Joe Hart for BBC Match of the Day, the reliable goalkeeper put an end to speculation surrounding his future.
Alisson said:
“I’m committed to this club, 100%, and that involves how to be part of this leadership group.”
The goalkeeper was linked with a move away from the club this summer and Saudi Arabia was thought to be his future destination.
He eventually decided to stay at the club and that proved to be the right decision for him and his career.
Liverpool face huge concerns about contracts of their players
Alisson has a contract at Anfield that runs until 2027 so the Reds are not too worried about his future.
It is the future of Salah, Alexander-Arnold and Van Dijk that is a huge cause of concern for the Merseyside club since all those three players can negotiate a pre-contract agreement in January with any other club.
Alisson’s admission would come as a huge sigh of relief for the Liverpool fans who would want the experienced goalkeeper to stay at the club and become a part of the transition period under Slot.
So – how did the story (dud) story of Bayern being interested in Alison get to have legs…some media pundit ho had to write a story to justify his salary…wrote a crap piece of journalism…Alison made it very clear when the Saudi talk surfaced that he was committed to LFC…maybe Bayern themselves influenced the writer to write the crap to test the waters? YNWA (especially where Alison is concerned)!
