West Ham captain, Jarrod Bowen, has been urged to leave the club by talkSPORT pundit, Adrian Durham, who was dumbfounded by what he saw from the Irons in the first half against Newcastle.

The Hammers went on to win the game 2-0 to give Julen Lopetegui some much-needed breathing space.

The Spaniard’s start to life at the London Stadium has been so bad, that it was reported he ‘beamed’ when going back to Spain during the international break.

Broadcaster, Richard Keys, even went on the record to say he had no sympathy with the club after their hiring of Lopetegui.

Adrian Durham, a radio broadcaster slammed the Hammers first half performance against Newcastle on Monday night, and even suggested Bowen should move on.

“Jarrod Bowen, you need to leave this club mate. He’s basically an auxiliary fullback,” he said to talkSPORT listeners on his live show at 8.50pm.

“He’s wasted at this club, absolutely wasted. He was linked to Liverpool in the summer and now he’s playing in a team like this.”

Certainly, Bowen seems to be an ‘everyman’ for Lopetegui at present. The England international is not only having to bear the responsibility of being captain, but also ensuring that he’s amongst the goals and leading the charge for the Hammers.

At present, he has three goals and three assists from his 12 games (transfermarkt) which, whilst no means a poor return, isn’t Bowen’s best.

As Durham alludes, if the striker is having to forage in different areas of the pitch in order to help create chances for the team, he’s not where he needs to be at the sharp end.

He is, effectively, being consistently let down by team-mates that don’t work half as hard and, ultimately, it could see the player follow the manager out of the exit door.
