Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta will surely have got fans excited with his latest hint about the club’s work in the transfer market.

The Gunners boss has been quoted by journalist Fabrizio Romano as saying they “know” who they’re working on signing, and this was even before the injury to Gabriel Jesus.

“You cheating shitbag!” – Which Man Utd star absolutely lost it at Arsenal player during fiery FA Cup clash?

See below for the full quote from Arteta, who also teased that it may now be a case of waiting to see how certain things develop, which perhaps points to the Spanish tactician and his “very clear ideas” progressing well…

Arteta said: “We know who we want to sign. We have very clear ideas of the players that we want, yes. It was before Gabriel Jesus injury and it was with Gabi injured right now and we have to wait and see how things develop.”

Of course, Arteta was never going to mention any names, so it’s not clear who these targets are, but perhaps it points towards an update coming soon.

Arsenal are currently seven points behind league leaders Liverpool, who have just drawn back to back games against Manchester United and Nottingham Forest.

The Gunners can close the gap to just four points if they beat Tottenham tonight, though LFC would still have a game in hand on their title rivals.

Overall, though, with Arne Slot’s side not looking that invincible at the moment, and with arguably the harder remaining fixtures, this title race seems far from over.

Arsenal haven’t quite got going yet, but if they strengthen their attack this winter then they could give themselves real hope of chasing down Liverpool and finally winning their first title since all the way back in 2003/04.

Dusan Vlahovic has been linked with Arsenal in a loan move from Juventus by Football Transfers, but one imagines we’ll see plenty more rumours until something more concrete is confirmed.
