Manchester United’s potential plans to replace Ruben Amorim as manager have been leaked, we can exclusively reveal for CaughtOffside.
According to our sources within INEOS Group, who control the footballing side at Man United, there is a shortlist in place if they end up making the decision to sack Amorim.
We understand two of the names on the official shortlist are Oliver Glasner and Andoni Iraola, along with others.
Glasner is the name currently being talked about the most within the board room and our understanding is that Glasner would be delighted with the opportunity to take the job at Old Trafford once it is available.
There has been a long-standing interest in Gareth Southgate as well, but INEOS also have concerns about backlash from the club’s fans over hiring the former England boss.
Ruben Amorim sacking now looks inevitable after Manchester United struggles

As one well-placed source put it: “The question is when not if Ruben Amorim leaves Manchester United in months to come.”
Another confirmed that INEOS would “not be afraid of taking the decision early if needed”.
The Portuguese tactician cut an extremely frustrated figure after last night’s shock Carabao Cup exit to League Two side Grimsby.
Just watch Amorim’s post-match interview here as he lay into his players, hinting he needs to replace all 22 of them.
Although he’s only been in the job for less than a year, it’s increasingly hard to see him lasting much longer.
Glasner and Iraola have impressed in the Premier League
Glasner has done a tremendous job with Palace, winning them the FA Cup and Community Shield in recent months.
Iraola, meanwhile, has also done great work to improve players at Bournemouth, and to get the team playing an attractive brand of football.
Both of these managers have proven themselves in the Premier League, and that could be crucial, with Amorim clearly struggling despite his success in his native Portugal.

Ineos won’t sack Amorim until at least Christmas, which may be too late. His system doesn’t work here and Ineos should persuade him to try a 4-3-3 system, which is perfect for the Premiership and gives our midfield a better chance in games. It also tightens up our defence which we need.
when will they learn? United need a manager who has experience of the premier league if they want to be successful. no point in bringing in managers who haven’t had some success in the premiership.
Klopp and Pep ? Experience in EPL when they first appointed? Ha ha. I had been supporting MU for 30+ years. Why don’t we get Sir GS? That will be the day i will laugh at the appointment . What do you expect the current coach ? Winning the tittle this year? Let the club clean up the unhealthy culture and please ditch the sense of entitlement that the Noisy side have, Cheerss
he’ll no
I think we need a coach that can work with all types of formation be it 3 4 2 1 or 4 3 3 .4 4 2
Like Ten Haag system you mean??? or Moyes? Or Mourinho? Or Solskjaer? Got heehaw to do with system as Chelski won league under Conte with that formation. Its to do with the players….team full of internationals can’t beat a 4th division team. They’re a disgrace to themselves and the club.
Chelski lol
and didn’t ole, ten hag, moyes and jose all play 433??
You are so spot on with this
Yeah, 4-3-3 worked great for previous managers…
Utter rubbish, spouted by lazy and somewhat poor journalist.
Ineos source ( quote the person if real) made up.
Back the manager properly,
Three attackers only bought in.
Need is Goalie
Midfielder
We’ve had poor buys forever.
The club keeps giving
No he needs to be gone. He gets rid of all our good player
Amorim has just become useless the way he does his things, he minmises teams as if he is the champion of UEFA and premier and why to stick to the system that do not give you good results so with his stupidness he deserved sack long time but it seems he has shares in united
The two names are the perfect for united however Oliver Glasner is my first choice he has won 2 trophies with palace at the hands of man city and Liverpool he has worked with available resources at palace and now 12 games unbeaten without signings imagine if given Manchester united and 2 signings what he can do
Let them bring luis enrique from psg
“Both of these managers have proven themselves in the Premier League”, have they won the premier league? bs. All this to sell your article. Good luck.
MANCHESTER UNITED ARE GOING NOWHERE WITH RUBEN AMORIM AS MANAGER HIS 3.4.3 SYSTEM IS NOT WORKING IN THE PREMIER LEAGUE HE IS SELLING OUR BETTER PLAYERS BECAUSE THEY DO NOT FIT INTO HIS SYSTEM HE HAS NEVER EXPERIENCED THE PREMIER LEAGUE BEFORE HE HAS BEEN CAUGHT OUT BY THE PACE OF OUR GAME HERE IN ENGLAND AND HE CANT ADAPT IN MY OPINION HE NEEDS TO PLAY 4.3.3. AND PLAY WITH WINGERS THEN WE WILL SCORE GOALS WE NOW HAVE THE PLAYERS TO SCORE GOALS UP FRONT FROM OUR RECENT SIGNINGS RUBEN AMORIM HAS TO GET RESULTS TO KEEP HIS JOB.
3-4-3 can work with better midfielders.
I am not a United fan, I am an Evertonian. I think, if changing managers could help, it would have been done by now. Manchester United is not only a football club; it is a massive organization. As such, it is not easy for fans to understand problems in the organization. The hierarchy should try to understand the reasons for United’s decline and find a solution as soon as possible.
do you smoke meth with ur mum
Michael Carrick as Interim Manager.
Ruud Van Nistelroy as Interim Coach.
Yes, bring Van Listeroy as interim Manager if the results don’t come by the 7th dsy match.
Glasner also plays 3-4-2-1 or 3-4-3. 🙂
tell em
Directionless squad building which has never been done in the correct sequence.
United have had issues with defense and defensive midfield for years. Every top 6 team for years now have been using a press resistant number 6.
Every manager who made progress got sacked for their results, not those results were never as bad as the exotic foreign managers they bought in with zero relative experience. Amorim is exactly the wrong manager at this point in his career and United’s development.
What they really need is a proper sporting director and CEO who doesn’t care about sales.
