Newcastle United are understood to have informed Nick Woltemade that he can leave the club on loan this summer, with interest growing.
I’ve previously been informed of Woltemade attracting interest from Aston Villa, Atletico Madrid, and Borussia Dortmund, but we can add more names now.
Somewhat surprisingly, I’m reliably told by sources with ties to the agents industry that Woltemade’s situation has Liverpool and Manchester United on alert.
Although the Germany international has struggled at Newcastle, he’s long been highly regarded in the game, so could be seen as a tempting option for big clubs.

Nick Woltemade situation explained
A well-placed source previously informed us: “Nick Woltemade is expected to leave. Dortmund, Atletico Madrid, and Villa are interested, and Newcastle will listen to offers. One issue, though, is that they’re keen on a permanent sale for around €65m, but for now it’s probably more likely that clubs will seek a loan with an option to buy.”
This source has now provided us with an update to say that both Liverpool and Man Utd are alert to Woltemade’s situation and considering him as an option to add depth to their squads this summer.
The 24-year-old can play as a number 9 or a number 10 and looks like he could revive his career at the right club, even if things haven’t quite clicked for him at Newcastle.
He’s not necessarily seen as a first choice target for these teams, with no talks taking place yet, but they’re expected to keep a close eye on how his situation develops in the weeks ahead.
More Newcastle exits?
It’s been a difficult summer at St James’ Park, and they could probably do without another high-profile departure.
Sandro Tonali and Anthony Gordon have both been sold, while Bruno Guimaraes will be next, and Eddie Howe recently left his position as manager.
Woltemade is not quite as important as any of those, but it’s yet more upheaval at a time when the club could really do with some stability.

From an LFC perspective…this is a good fix to a temporary back up for Isak until Ekitike comes back…also it’s simple nit to put too much pressure on Hughes/da!) but I have to be frank/I personally have lost all faith in Hughes/Edwards – whatever the hell is going on with them I do not know/there are so many gaps in our squad/one could almost say this is asleep at the wheel stuff from bith of them…I think Hughes will be running onto the field to partner VVD as that will be our only option. Hughes and Edwards DGAF. They’re both out the door at summers end (Edwards already). Hughes is probably looking at targets for Al-Hilal. We’ve got NO right winger, 1 fit CB, 1 fit RB (who isn’t even a right back), our 6 still hasn’t been resolved and your left back cover is Tsimikas who isn’t good enough. Jones wants out, Mac Allister unsure about, Gakpo unsure about and no idea where Wirtz plays as we so you add all this together and our side looks like Swiss cheese. Should have had RB, CB and DM sorted before world cup, as you build from the back. i honestly have no idea at the moment in our first game vs Newcastle what our line-up will be.
