Fabrizio Romano has provided an update on the future of Southampton midfielder James Ward-Prowse following transfer links with West Ham in the summer.
The England international continues to impress in the Premier League, and it’s hard to believe he couldn’t do well to move to a bigger club as his Saints side currently sit bottom of the table.
Back in the summer, Romano admitted that there was interest from West Ham in Ward-Prowse, but it remains to be seen if they could revive that deal.
The Hammers are having a pretty disappointing season themselves right now, so may no longer be a tempting destination for Ward-Prowse.
Most importantly, however, it seems that Romano now thinks we won’t see this situation resolved in any way until the summer, with nothing happening for the moment.
“I mentioned in the summer that James Ward-Prowse was attracting interest from West Ham. However, Southampton want to keep him now, this is very clear; we will see in the summer, it’s really difficult to predict summer moves now… it depends on managers, directors, many factors,” Romano wrote in his exclusive CaughtOffside column.
Ward-Prowse has shown his quality with free-kicks and his all-round play, and it seems unlikely Southampton would be able to keep him if they were relegated to the Championship.
Really he’s going nowhere, he said himself he’s not interested in leaving.
Some West Ham fan dreaming; BS article.
Why is it that stories like this circulate. Is it unsettle stars from their teams outside the top six. Traditional or otherwise so they can keep speculation burning and hoping to turn the players head in lower teams and then reignite in consecutive window so the player is always going to be under pressure to leave his team because social media and the media cause unrest until they get their own way
All you have to say is ‘in my opinion or no disrespect then state what ever tosh you want to say and keep the leverage on until you bully your way into a position which is satisfactory for you and not the traditional underdog who many of these players play for these clubs.
In my opinion this story resembles a process of eventual tapping up by dominant forces.
Try to figure out who these others maybe? Logically is this continual tapping up to unsettle players being blatantly achieved in professional football? Is it all hidden behind quotes like ‘in my opinion or no disrespect but……?
