Man United’s top transfer target prefers a move to Premier League rivals Liverpool

Manchester United are expected to make a number of big changes to their squad in the summer transfer window.

Signing a defender is high on the priority list for the Red Devils, who may lose some of their current defenders.

Raphael Varane and Jonny Evans are nearing the end of their deals at Old Trafford while Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof have uncertain futures at the club.

Man United are looking to sign a central defender

The club plan to bring in a long term partner of Lisandro Martinez and for that position, they have identified several targets. Among them are Jarrad Branthwaite, Antonio Silva, and Jean-Clair Todibo.

One name that has been mentioned frequently with a move to Old Trafford is Juventus defender Gleison Bremer, whose release clause is said to be between €60 and €70 million.

The Juventus star Bremer, though, would presumably prefer to move to Liverpool or Real Madrid if given the chance, according to Alfredo Pedulla.

Gleison Bremer to reject Man United?

Since making his major career move to Juventus from local rivals Torino, Bremer has proven his value as a quality defender.

With the more prominent role played by the 27-year-old Brazilian, he has been a consistent performer in Massimiliano Allegri’s system.

Bremer is one of many defenders Man United are targeting

The Brazil international has been chosen in the Serie A team of the season for the last two years running, so this will be a major setback for Man United if one of their rivals win the race to sign him up.

Over his 29 Serie A appearances this season, Bremer has contributed to 15 clean sheets.

This is not the only blow Man United could face as they prepare for a busy summer at Old Trafford.

Their pursuit of Newcastle’s Dan Ashworth has been dealt a major blow and they could look at their options elsewhere, as reported today.

The Red Devils are targeting a move for German midfielder to replace Casemiro in the summer.

  1. Manchester United hierarchy should act fast to avoid last minute capture. He’s really a good asset. Our defence has really cost us this season and amendments to be done early.
