Joey Barton In Senseless Attack Shocker!

by Mad Dog and Glory on July 30th, 2009 3 comments

So yesterday Newcastle United played Leeds United in a friendly for no other reason than to give the travelling Yorkshiremen a chance to give Alan Smith the booing he deserves and to give Joey Barton the chance to put in a disgusting and unprovoked challenge on English Starlet Fabian Delph.

Joey Barton got away with a crude challenge on Fabian Delph as tempers threatened to boil over for the second time in three Newcastle friendlies.

Furious Leeds boss Simon Grayson had to be held back by officials after £8m-rated midfielder Delph was left dazed by an off-the-ball bodycheck from the Toon jailbird.

He said: “There were one or two naughty tackles and you get upset because you’re trying to protect your players. I want to make sure I’ve a full squad to start the season.”

The ref missed the incident as the red mist descended again for Barton (pictured), whose team-mates were forced to calm him down. (Daily Mirror)

Can’t find any footage of the tackle as yet, but in the meantime here’s a compilation of Barton’s finest moments of extreme stupidity set nicely to Audio Bullys track “We Don’t Care”
