Arsenal

Arsenal’s title dream is all but over – does this surprise stat show what cost them?

Aston Villa

Mateu Alemany: “Aston Villa? This is not the time to talk about my business. I have a commitment to the president to complete all the operations that are pending for Barcelona and then we’ll see.”

Douglas Luiz: “The atmosphere is crazy. I’m so happy to be here and play in Villa Park, it’s a dream really. We believe in Unai Emery and we’re so happy with him. We want to play in the Europa League. We are training hard every day for this objective.”

Atletico Madrid

Atletico Madrid are advancing in negotiations to sign Uruguayan 2002-born centre back Santiago Mourino on a permanent deal from Racing Montevideo. Talks are now at a key stage and progressing well.

Barcelona

Barcelona are La Liga champions for the 27th time in their history, and it’s a first title victory for Xavi as manager after beating Espanyol 4-2 last night. Last summer’s aggressive approach in the transfer market has paid off, with Robert Lewandowski scoring 21 league goals, while Jules Kounde has also had a superb season. Despite criticism, Raphinha has also contributed 7 goals and 7 assists in La Liga to help bring the title back to the Nou Camp for the first time since 2019.

And Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat, who has been linked strongly as a top target for Barcelona, was spotted liking Fabrizio Romano’s social media post confirming the Catalan giants as champions…

Barca president Joan Laporta: “We will do everything we can to bring Leo Messi back to Barcelona.”

Barca vice president Rafa Yuste: “Messi? He’s very good friend of many guys who are celebrating La Liga today… I’m sure he is so happy! I would love Messi to come back.”

Gavi denies links with PL clubs and his possible summer exit: “This is the first title here, this is the club of my dreams — it’s Barca. I hope there will be many more.”

Everything is set to be signed between Inigo Martinez and Barcelona – the documents are ready, and it will be on a two-year contract. An important signing on a free transfer.

Bayer Leverkusen

Bayer Leverkusen are set to sign Alejandro Grimaldo on a free transfer from Benfica. A full agreement is in place and contracts set to be signed very soon — medical tests already completed. He will sign a four-year deal and it will be made official soon. Despite links with Barcelona, there was nothing to that story – fake news. He will join Bayer Leverkusen.

Bayern Munich

Bayern director Hasan Salihamidzic: “Cancelo is a top player, technically a pleasure for the eyes. We’re glad we have him. €70m buy option? We haven’t decided anything yet. We’ll do that after the end of the season.”

Brighton

Roberto de Zerbi when asked about his future: “I want to dream. I live for my work. I want to fix the target very high.”

On transfers, De Zerbi confirms: “For sure we will lose some players. Maybe Caicedo, maybe Mac Allister. We have to be ready to bring in more good players.”

Joao PedroJames Milner and Mahmoud Dahoud are expected to join Brighton.

Chelsea

Chelsea plan to sign a new striker in the summer in any case, no matter what happens with the future of Romelu Lukaku; this decision has already been discussed with Pochettino. As for Lukaku, there is no update, talks will take place in June, nothing yet.

Thiago Silva’s wife Belle appears to confirm the plan is to stay at Chelsea: “We, my family, my husband, my children and me, we are very, very happy here in London, in Chelsea. So my family and I are Blue, are Chelsea and we stay here. Go Blues!”

Inter Milan

Inter CEO Beppe Marotta on Lautaro Martinez and Man Utd links: “I think there are all the conditions for Lautaro to become our future captain.”

Manchester City

What a performance from Ilkay Gundogan yesterday, who is surely one of the most underrated players of the last decade. Two superb goals in the win over Everton, taking City to just one win away from a third Premier League title in a row. Barcelona still want Gundogan and his future has not been decided yet, but what a player, who will be missed by City if he does go.

Pep Guardiola on Gundogan’s future and Barca proposal: “Maybe at the end he stays here. Hopefully…Nobody knows what’s gonna happen.”

Bayern director Hasan Salihamidzic: “Cancelo is a top player, technically a pleasure for the eyes. We’re glad we have him. €70m buy option? We haven’t decided anything yet. We’ll do that after the end of the season.”

Manchester United

L’Equipe have reported on Adrien Rabiot again being targeted by Manchester United. He’s had a superb season at Juventus, one of the best midfielders in Serie A, for sure, and credit to Erik ten Hag, who saw something in him last summer. Rabiot remains of interest to United, but nothing has been agreed, he’s simply a name being discussed internally. Rabiot has a dream to play in the Premier League, so that will be his priority, but he will also have an offer to sign a new contract at Juventus, so he will decide his future at the end of the season. Rabiot knows about United’s interest, but there are also other Premier League clubs and so that looks like the most likely option for him.

Erik ten Hag on Man United ownership: “I’ll go for high standards so I am planning squad for next season in background. It’s up to others to decide if the finances are there…”

Inter CEO Beppe Marotta on Lautaro Martinez and Man Utd links: “I think there are all the conditions for Lautaro to become our future captain.”

PSG

Eintracht Frankfurt have approached PSG to sign Hugo Ekitike — and more clubs have also asked for the French talent in the last few days. PSG have not responded to any of the approaches for Ekitike.

Real Madrid

Real Madrid remain interested in signing PSG forward Kylian Mbappe, but they don’t want to pay a transfer fee for the Frenchman (Marca)

Tottenham

The next step for Tottenham is to find a new sporting director. This will be crucial ahead of appointing a new manager.

As for Julian Nagelsmann, sources close to both the club and the manager say this deal is off, it’s not going to advance. Nagelsmann was only keen to take over at Tottenham if they appointed a sporting director close to him.

There are now multiple candidates, including internal options who could be promoted to the role. There is also Lee Dykes who is very highly appreciated for the job he’s done at Brentford. It won’t be easy and would likely take an important financial offer, but it’s one option. The director would then decide along with Daniel Levy for the new manager – Xabi Alonso is appreciated but won’t be easy because he’s happy to stay at Bayer Leverkusen.
